Environmental Policy

Our Environmental Policies – June 2025

Strategy

As a content production business, we want to have a positive environmental impact by creating conditions for sustainable working and to help build a sustainable creative sector, we are required to be environmentally responsible by minimising our impact.

A large proportion Lime’s carbon emissions come from production-related activities, therefore our primary focus is working with the BAFTA albert Consortium to report on our carbon footprint and carbon action plans. Lime has been an early adopter of BAFTA’s Albert sustainability scheme which also supports All3Media’s group target of all productions to participate and engage with the Consortium as the route to achieving net zero in production.

In addition, Lime is addressing emissions from its office operations and travel activities and working with external consultants Inteb, we participate in energy audits to support the Energy Management System (EnMS) compliant with ISO 50001:2018. This will improve our energy performance and ensure compliance with ESOS Regulations (UK govt).

This document sets out our environmental policies and KPI measures in conjunction with the group. Lime will use Group’s baseline year 2024 to measure progress (see Appendix), with work led by the Net Zero Working Group.

Goal

We will reduce our carbon emissions to as close to zero as possible, across all categories of production and offices and thereafter use offsetting in order to become a net zero carbon business by 2030

Policies

Production

To achieve sustainable production, we are:

  • Mandating use of the albert calculator for carbon calculation thereby providing us with a central “source of truth” about our production emissions.
  • Aiming for a year-on-year increase scoring for albert accreditation for their sustainability achievements (see guide to certification scoring) through all our productions
  • Improving the way that we produce programmes by reducing and reusing before offsetting however, for any production-related emissions that cannot be eliminated, we will use the albert Creative Offsets scheme.

Offices and studio

How we run our buildings. We will:

  • Reduce our energy and water consumption - energy reduction methods can include: switching to LED lighting with motion sensors, ensuring non-essential electrics are turned off during out-of-office hours, move from desktop PCs to laptops ; water reduction methods can include: use of low-flow outlets, fixing leaks early, harvesting rainwater
  • Remain with green energy suppliers (gas and electricity) where we have control or can influence the contract
  • Maintain our heating and air conditioning units to minimise waste, leakage and to maximise air quality (where they are in our control)
  • Reduce our waste -with zero waste to landfill and increasing recycling
  • Aim to be paperless and reduce our spend on office supplies and stationery
  • Cut single-use plastics and eliminating disposable catering products
  • Continue to harvest power from our 100Kwp roof mounted solar PV arrays that meets c.10% of our energy consumption

Sustainable Travel

While travel is a requisite of our production , our policy is to:

  • Consider the reasons for travel - particularly flights - and choose low carbon journeys wherever possible
  • Encourage the use of shared and public transport and reduce the use of personal vehicles
  • Use green travel suppliers e.g. taxis, car hire and corporate travel
  • Promote availability of the cycle to work scheme
  • Where most appropriate, make use of video and audio conferencing as an alternative to travel
  • Improve travel data collection to support our business in making informed travel decisions

Employee Engagement

We will ensure that our employees are aware of our environment policies and contribute to achieving them.

  • We will ensure that our employees are aware of our environment policies and contribute to achieving them.
  • Introduction of bi monthly “green days” to encourage pan company initiatives
  • Establish a “Green Team” made up of departments to meet Bi Monthly
  • Feedback to group and support their Net Zero Quarterly meetings held with representatives from across all parts of the business

Group Level Accreditation and Offsetting Policy

  • Lime is fully involved with the Energy Management System (EnMS) compliant with ISO 50001:2018, which is audited annually both internally and externally
  • Where we are not able to further reduce our office and travel emissions, we will use bona fide offsetting schemes to achieve net zero emissions

How do we get there ...

  1. Continue with the Albert strategy
  2. Lime to run bi monthly “green days” awareness with follow up meeting
  3. Lime to ensure all essential staff attend carbon literacy training
  4. Lime report back to Net Zero Working Group and update as required
  5. As an OPCO Lime to remain fully engaged in EnMS and ISO50001; ESSOS
  6. Lime to hold a climate content workshop
  7. Inteb is engaged as consultants to support implementation of Carbon Reduction across the group

A Note on Audiences

Our industry has the opportunity to influence audiences via our onscreen content and we can make a positive contribution to general environmental awareness among the viewing public. The Net Zero Working Group will work with Lime to show instances of where this has happened in any given year.
